In terms of construction, like the XTR1 bed rack, the XTR3 bed rack is built from extruded aluminum crossbars that are lightweight and extremely durable. This allows the XTR1 bed rack to support heavy loads while keeping the overall weight to a minimum.

In addition to two additional uprights, the XTR3 bed racks also come with some other optional items not found on the XTR1 bed rack. This includes an additional top cross bar and additional side braces and support braces.
